The officers of the Lodge

After the recent Trafalgar meeting on the 22nd October the ships’ officers gathered in the East around the Worshipful Master. The picture shows the Seafarers’s standard in the background and to the left and right the banners of some of the other Lodges that meet at Downend.

The 3 flags in the foreground represent are the Red Ensign representing the Merchant Navy, the White Ensign representing the Royal Navy and the Blue Ensign representing the masters of vessels in possession of a warrant issued by the Director of Naval Reserves, and by the members of certain yacht clubs.

This reflects the Latin motto on the Lodge Banner – “Vetura Et Comitari” which translates as – “To Escort and Protect”

It also represents various connections members of the The Lodge of Seafarers have with the sea.
